Holiday Boutique
The Kiwanis Club of Conejo Valley helped raise funds for their youth programs by holding its annual Holiday Boutique at the Thousand Oaks Inn. Admission was free and light snacks were provided.
Considered to be the busiest shopping weekend of the year, the public sampled and purchased merchandise from over 30 vendors from around the southland. "This Kiwanis boutique was unique, because it offered twice the giving," says Ken Walker, club president. "Not only did shoppers purchase handcrafted gifts, but all proceeds from their purchases benefitted the many youth projects the Kiwanis Club of Conejo Valley has planned for this fiscal year."
As an added means for raising funds the Kiwanis Club of Conejo Valley sold raffle tickets for a sleigh full of dozens of prizes. Each raffle ticket cost $5, but the winner, Sherri Silva, won hundreds of dollars in prizes.
Santa Claus made an appearance for two hours to listen to requests from children of all ages. Keepsake photos were taken to remember the moment. Visit our photo gallery if your child's photo was taken.
A special thanks to our vendors for their professional and decorative displays, to Carol Cadoo of the Thousand Oaks Inn for the use of the facility, and to Jenni Moore, a member of our club, for creating and planning the event. Happy Holidays!
2007 Installation of Officers
The Kiwanis Club of Conejo Valley celebrated the end of their charter administrative year and welcomed in a new slate of officers at their annual Installation of Officers dinner. On the evening of September 26, 2007, friends, family members and fellow Kiwanians gathered at the Thousand Oaks Inn to witness this formal occasion. Immediate Past President Duane Hollinger recaped the year with his speech and then 2007-2008 President Ken Walker gave an inspiring speech with the help of his two daughters, Jessica (13) and Sarah (7). Some of his family were having difficulty holding back the tears. A special thanks to Chuck Castaing for capturing the evening in these photographs.
